Wharton Park
A fun-filled park featuring several kids' play areas, a miniature-car track, a cafe & views over Durham.
Following a recent £3 million investment, Wharton Park is a gem in the heart of Durham, with commanding views over the city. At its summit, there are Grade-2 listed battlements, darting back to 1858. 19th century philosopher John Ruskin described the spectacular views at ‘the Eighth Wonder of the World’.
The park is home to a putting green, miniature car track, junior play area and even an outdoor gym, as well as quiet areas to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
