Dynamic Duo Celebrate Pub Award Finals

The Harrogate Inn and The Coniston Inn celebrated their status among the UK’s top pubs on Tuesday evening at the glitzy Great British Pub Awards in Manchester.

The Inn Collection Group sites from North Yorkshire and the Lake District were named in the shortlists for the best town pub and best pub for dogs respectively, officially placing them in the top six in the UK for each.

Harrogate and Coniston were the only inns from their region to make the top six and qualified after an in-depth application process shone a spotlight on their specific virtues to the organisers, William Reed Publishing.

Marking the achievements, a blend of teams from the sites themselves and the central support hub celebrated in style on the evening  and came away with the drive to continue to evolve and enhance their offering to their customers

Found in the centre of the historic Spa town near the convention centre, The Harrogate Inn’s qualification came thanks to the variety offered by its food and drinks menus, including the special weekend brunch offering, marketing and promotional activities and The Inn Collection Group’s approach to staff training and retention.

The Coniston Inn meanwhile was as a result of the efforts of the site team to enhance their dog-friendly offering, including a new scent trail in the woodland walk that is part of the grounds and its securely fenced paddock that allows for responsible off lead exercising.

Operations manager for the two sites, Chris Liddell added: “The teams at the in a have put in sterling efforts this year and we’re delighted that the applications were recognised with the finalist shortlisting.

“It was great to get the sites and the support hub teams together and celebrate with each other after a busy summer and we’re now looking ahead to a strong autumn and winter, with both pubs enjoying strong bookings for Christmas and Winter Breaks.”

Described as the Oscars for the Pub Industry, the annual competition aims to reward and recognise the nation’s finest pubs, helping their owners and operators put bums on seats and pride into their hard-working teams.
