Inn Collection Group pubs shortlisted for national awards

Fondly nicknamed “the Oscars of the Pub industry,” The Great British Pub Awards, run by leading trade magazine the Morning Advertiser, are the stand-out event for pub operators throughout the country.

The group’s popular seaside pub with rooms The Bamburgh Castle Inn, which overlooks the harbour in the seaside resort of Seahouses, Northumberland is up for both the Best Inn and Best Freehouse categories.

General manager of The Bamburgh Castle Inn Simon Lumsden said: “To be shortlisted for one award is amazing – but to be a finalist in two categories of The Great British Pub Awards is absolutely phenomenal!

Cleveland pub with rooms The King’s Head Inn has also been shortlisted as a finalist in the Best for Families category in the awards, which drew in hundreds of entries from pubs across the UK.

The family-friendly inn has recently invested in a £100k playbarn and offers special walking breaks for families along with a raft of activities to keep little ones happy.

General manager of The King’s Head Inn Phil Harris said: “We are delighted to be named as finalists for the awards, which are known in the industry as the ones to win, especially for a category which is so close to our hearts.

“Happy children means happy parents, and as a dad myself I know how important it is to spend quality family time together, but it can be tricky finding somewhere to keep the kids entertained with space to play so everyone has a great time.

The Inn Collection Group is no stranger to awards success. It was named as best Pub Employer (up to 500 employees) in the 2018 Publican Awards.

The Great British Pub Awards take place in London on September 5.
