There was a trio of wins for The Inn Collection Group at the inaugural Hospitality Association York awards in September, as all three nominees from Dean Court walked away with a gong.
Frank Caulfield, Emily Benton and Gergo Laszlo attended after earning shortlisting in the Warm Welcome, Most Promising Chef and Serving Superstar categories respectively.
Up against fierce competition in the shape of fellow leading hospitality businesses across the minster city, the magnificent trinity sealed a pair of golds and a silver in recognition of their efforts.
Emily’s Gold recognised her excellence in all elements of a chef’s role and the key part she has played in the growing food business at Dean Court, with its hearty pub-food style menu available to all from 12 – 9pm every day.
Gergo, or Gary to his Dean Court family also took gold, rewarding a member of the team who has ensured two 100% scores during mystery shopper visits and brings a warmth and connection that enhances customer dining experiences.
Frank meanwhile claimed silver for providing customer service of the very highest standard and making a lasting impression on both visitors and his colleagues.
Congratulating the Dean Court winners, assistant general manager Beckie Hardcastle said: “We’re so proud of the guys! They deserved their shortlisting and the awards that they’ve picked up.
“Emily, Gary and Frank are brilliant and to be recognised as among the best in the city is a real accolade. They’ve set a high standard and I know we will all be looking to match them and get even more of our team nominated next year.
“HAY did a great job with the event and it was such a lovely evening with the enthusiasm of the audience that set the evening apart, celebrating our teams and also welcoming the success of others.”
Hosted on September 5, the HAY Hospitality Awards attracted almost 200 people from the association, whose members makeup almost 30 of York’s hotels and B&Bs.
HAY Chairman Adam Wardale said, “It’s fair to say that these awards have been a long time coming – we’ve had the desire to organise this for several years and we’re delighted that we’ve finally been able to create an evening to celebrate our amazing.”
“Every finalist represents the dedication and hard work that makes our industry thrive, going above and beyond to create unforgettable experiences for guests—and without them, York would not be the thriving city that it is.”
“The inaugural awards went better than we could have imagined and we very much want to make this an important part of the York awards calendar moving forward.”
