Great British Pub Awards Finalists

Finalists in three categories, Best Inn and Best Freehouse (The Bamburgh Castle Inn) and Best For Families (The King’s Head Inn), the inns were named as being the top six in the country at the awards, affectionately known as the ‘Pub Oscars’.

Taking place at a glitzy awards ceremony in London, Ed Bedington, editor of The Morning Advertiser, which organises the award, said: “These pubs represent the best in the business, and it’s a real honour for us to be able to celebrate with all our winners and finalists in this year’s competition.”

General manager of The Bamburgh Castle Inn Simon Lumsden said: “Reaching the finals is absolutely fantastic. It’s a real pat on the back to know we are one of the top six best inns and freehouses in the country and were the only Northumberland pub to reach the finals.

“Getting this recognition on a national platform is very rewarding. It reflects a lot of hard effort and dedication by the whole team of staff back at Seahouses, from our housekeepers to our kitchen and front of house teams. I’d like to say a big well done to everyone and we look forward to welcoming in customers to experience just why we’re among the best in the nation.”

Phil Harris, general manager of The King’s Head Inn said: “It was a brilliant evening and great to be up there as being one of the best pubs in the country. As a family man myself, I’m so proud that the work we have done to be as welcoming and accessible to families of all ages has been recognised in this way and has put us on the map as a great place for families to eat, drink, sleep and explore from.”
